What is the warranty?

All full broadcast flake flooring comes with a ten year warranty guaranteed for adhesion and against defects in workmanship and material. Flooring is chemical resistant but chemicals should be cleaned from the floor regularly to help maintain the surface.

All smooth epoxy, polyurethane and polyaspartic floors come with a minimum 1 year warranty guaranteed for adhesion and against defects in workmanship and material. Flooring is chemical resistant but chemicals should be cleaned from the floor in a reasonable time frame to help maintain the surface.

Will cracks in the floor be filled?

Yes, before coating, we use an epoxy crack filler that bonds to the side walls of of the crack and fills the gap.

Will my floor coating peel or crack?

Every concrete floor is properly prepared using a variety of preparation techniques, such as diamond grinding, which creates a strong bond between the coating and your concrete floor giving you a surface that won’t peel or crack.

How long does an installation take?

Most installations take 1-3 days with larger floors and multiple colours increasing the time required.

How soon can the surface be used after application?

Curing times vary based on the product used. Generally speaking, most coatings will be dry enough for light foot traffic within 24-48 hours but rapid curing options are available.

Why should I coat my concrete surface?

Concrete coatings protect your investment while greatly improving the look and finish of your concrete floor. With their extreme durability and wide variety of installation options, they are the perfect choice for your residential, commercial or industrial floor. Garage coatings are so important in our environment as salt and other chemicals from the roads quickly erode even new garage floors.

Can your products be applied over painted concrete?

Yes and no, coating over an existing paint doesn’t allow for a strong bond to the concrete, therefore, we generally remove existing paints and coatings to allow for the strongest bond to your concrete floor. This is part of our standard preparation technique.

Will the coating protect against salt and other aggressive chemicals?

All our coatings are designed for commercial use and are chemical resistant. In instances of higher than normal chemical resistance needs, a topcoat of polyaspartic or polyurethane can be used as well as highly chemical resistant epoxy.

What is the difference between epoxy, polyurethane and polyaspartic?

Epoxy, Polyurethane and polyaspartic are all coatings used for concrete floors. Depending on the application, one, the other or a combination of both will give you the ideal finish. Epoxy is the most commonly known and has a high self leveling nature allowing for the creation of extremely smooth floors, Polyurethane for their strength and chemical resistance while polyaspartics are known for their higher flexibility, scratch resistance and UV stability. Our highly experienced staff will discuss your needs and inform you of the best product for your application.

How do you fix cracks in the concrete prior to installation?

Most cracks are repaired using an epoxy filler, in cracks with high levels of movement or where waterproofing is required, flexible polyurethane fillers can be used to seal and handle larger cracks and movement.

What if something happens to my project after my warranty expires?

All of our products are repairable, serviceable and can be recoated at a fraction of the original cost giving you a renewed floor with infinite longevity.

How do I clean the floor?

Floors should be cleaned using a neutral cleaner to maintain existing finish. Depending on the application, a broom and a mop may be all that is needed. A little bit of water and a foam squeegee is an easy way to wash the floor but it can also be periodically pressure washed if desired.

Can new concrete be coated?

A minimum of 28 days is required before new concrete can be coated as the concrete is still curing. A concrete moisture test may be required.

How durable are the coatings in extreme weather conditions?

TKO Coatings are designed to stand up to the harshest weather conditions. Heavy-duty resin technology forms a secure and durable bond with the surface, to protect against the sun’s harmful UV rays, rain, and snow. TKO Coatings will protect your concrete surfaces for years to come.

Is your coating non-slip?

Some of our systems have a natural anti-slip finish but an optional anti-slip additive can always be added to any of our systems.

What are the temperature restrictions for installing coatings?

Garage floors can be installed year round with temperatures down to -20° Celsius.

Interior flooring requires a minimum of +10° Celsius unless specified (some products may be adjusted for colder installs).

What is the coating process?

Grinding

For all projects, TKO Concrete starts with grinding the existing concrete to remove previous coatings, glue or spills. This process also opens the concrete surface which allows the coatings to bond to the concrete.

Cleaning

With our industrial vacuums, we ensure all dust and debris are off the floor before we coat.

Minor Repairs

With our epoxy crack filler, we repair pitting, deterioration and small cracks.

Coating System

Depending on the coating system, we would start coating with a base coat of epoxy or polyaspartic and continue with whatever is required.
